Senior) Project Manager

Amongst other things, you will be responsible for:

• Lead cross-functional software development teams to deliver features or components for the specified product, capable of performing the required functionality and fulfilling the performance and quality targets. Time and resource constraints for the projects are set by the Project Board.
• 
  Defining scope, work packages, stage deliverables and an overall project plan, following TomTom’s project management methodology.
• 
  Responsible for identifying and managing/taking into account the dependencies with other projects, activities or platforms throughout TomTom’s development organizations.
  
  

In an international and dynamic environment, you will be working together with program management, development management and user experience management teams, being responsible for resourcing the project teams, gather the business requirements, and creating an overall project plan.
It is the role of the project manager to define the work to be done, to optimize the critical path, and to identify risks and define scenarios and contingency actions. Every project manager should be able to explain why he thinks the project will deliver in time, with the right quality, and should be transparent on the assumptions made and the way the assumptions are verified.
You will then lead cross-functional software development teams through the entire project lifecycle, with the aim to deliver quality software integrated in the next client software platform.
After receiving the approval from senior management (in our gated project process) to proceed to the next project phase, you will enable the reporting of progress via leading indicators, and more specifically: forecast and provide evidence of the future delivery of the project to the set quality standards.
You will also continuously and proactively analyze project risks and suitable mitigation strategies, and report on these on a regular basis to senior management.
Your opportunity:

Your Profile      

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in science or business
• At least 3-5 years experience in software project management
• Knowledge of formal project management methodologies, and agile development methodologies (Scrum)
• Outstanding communication and analytical skills
• Ability to influence and persuade people, both within the team as well as in the wider organization
• Enough maturity to comfortably bring structure to the project teams in a fast-paced (and at times chaotic) environment
• Consistently follows things through
• Fluent in English (written as well as spoken)
• Experience in consumer electronics business with short time-to-market cycles a plus

Business Unit / Department       

This role is within the Client Technology department of TomTom, in Amsterdam. Client Technology is responsible for developing new innovative features that can be used throughout all development departments of TomTom.
It also works very closely with other groups including Development, Service & Delivery, User Experience and Automotive.
As a member of a team of highly motivated, skilled and experienced engineers you will take joint responsibility in ensuring the successful testing of ground-breaking software on cutting edge hardware.
